PITTSBURGH —– I Made It! Market, Pittsburgh’s nomadic indie craft marketplace, returns to The Block Northway on Saturday, November 19, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.  I Made It! Market features over 100 unique artists for their signature Holiday shopping event at The Block Northway’s South Corridor, which is located at 8013 McKnight Road, Pittsburgh, PA  15237 between DSW and Land’s End.

“This family-friendly one-day pop-up experience offers a diverse mix of craft and vintage vendors for our community and guests to browse, shop and enjoy,” said Jamie Pavlot, Director of Experience of LRC Realty. “While at The Block Northway, guests and visitors can enjoy the variety of shops and eateries throughout the center and visit this Holiday Shopping Spectacular market at the south end of the shopping plaza.”

Shoppers will recognize some artists from previous I Made It! Market events. New artists will be in attendance as well. In addition to offering a craft marketplace, I Made It! Market cultivates a community of local makers by including a mix of 70% returning and 30% new artists at each event.

Shoppers can expect to find a juried mix of exclusively handmade products, including 2-D art, clothing and toys for infants and children, bath and body products, ceramics, fiber art, glass art, homewares, jewelry, leather goods, pop culture and fandom gifts, pet treats and gifts, and wooden wares. Ready to eat and packaged food and beverages will also be available.    This family-friendly event is FREE and open to the public.

Paint Monkey will offer children a hands-on “Paint to Donate” area where they can paint a Turkey Pierogi for $10 cash (while supplies last). Proceeds going to the KDKA Turkey Fund.

This year a “Café” experience will be available for guests to sit, take a break and purchase a cup of coffee, hot chocolate, latte from By The Wayside or sample and purchase Boyd and Blair pre-crafted bottled cocktail mixes (Located next to Wahlburgers)

Participating artists include:

Lazypeas is an eco-friendly business that uses repurposed fabrics and preloved garments to make whimsical wearable and useable art. They will take the ordinary and transform it into something interesting and fun. A warm sweater becomes a cute owl or a pair of mittens, a flannel shirt is transformed into a funny alligator or a cute purse….you never know what you will find when shopping lazypeas!

Shelly Cubarney wheel throws and hand builds each functional, artful object. Mugs. Bowls. Plates. Jewelry. Vases. Birdhouses. She delicately presses fresh cut ferns, rusty leaves, and other natural patterns into her clay forms to create her unique “fossil effect” impressions and prints. She designs her own images of plants and animals into her work as well. Cubarney uses a very special “earthly colorant” in her pottery; recovered iron and manganese runoff that once polluted Pennsylvania streams caused by abandoned mine drainage. The recovered minerals have been painstakingly reclaimed and repurposed into pigments that Cubarney uses during her glazing process, enhancing the natural texture of her designs.

Laura and Jon are deaf artists who have been sculpting Pittsburgh’s outdoor spaces for almost 16 years. Four years ago, they created Mars Design Studio to produce exquisite & unique cutting/charcuterie boards and custom tables during the winter months. Their landscapes and wood designs infuse beauty into everyday life. From a 5,000 square foot patio to the 1 square foot cutting board, each project is executed with attention to the smallest detail.

Mike Schiavone is a painter that lives and works in the North Side of Pittsburgh. His hyper-realistic work is inspired by the transformative nature of light’s interaction with glass and other common, everyday objects. His work also celebrates the cultural traditions and the unique character of Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania.
